Trenton, NJ –Better Education for Kids (B4K) and JerseyCAN are pleased to see the advancement of S3381 out of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee today. S3381/A4957 ensures that our law mirrors the State’s current testing system and provides a clear pathway for students in the classes of 2019 and 2020 to graduate.
“We thank Senator Ruiz and the Senate President for their leadership in acting quickly to protect tens of thousands of students and ensure they have a predictable path to graduation,” noted Patricia Morgan, Executive Director of JerseyCAN. “This legislation not only prevents chaos and uncertainty about graduation but also ensures that New Jersey continues to provide students and families with objective information that their high school degree will prepare them for college and the workforce.”
Shelley Skinner, Executive Director of B4K, agreed:
“New Jersey has worked diligently to elevate the value of its diploma to reflect that of true content mastery. These students should move forward in their endeavors with the confidence of a solid foundation for future success. Relieving the graduation uncertainty for the classes of 2019 and 2020 would allow these students to focus their attention on the next steps in their post-secondary career.”
